God MADE me!

Our goal for the year was to teach the deaf that:

1) God made me.

2) God loves me.

3) God cares for me.

Each month the lesson somehow relates to one of these important truths.

We quickly found that the sign for “MADE” was not understood by the low language deaf.


To teach the sign for “MADE” we prepared individual baggies of homemade play-dough (add a few drops of essential oils for a multi-sensory experience).  You can search for various recipes on-line.


Each student was told to “make” something.  When they finished they placed the things they “made” out of the play-dough at the front.  Some made people, some foods, others animals.  Then one by one the leader picked up the play-dough figures and asked who made this (of course the students will have to have background of the word “who?”).  Everyone would then sign “Ana made that” or…
